SPEAKING TOPICS

'One of those Motivational Speakers with a real sense of humour...'

More than just a motivational speaker, Martin’s humorous and engaging style presents lessons learned from his work in communications and international business. He pulls from a wide range of experiences, from protecting royal reputations in South Africa, to training staff at the British Embassy in Paris – with interesting lessons learned from the Ambassador’s butler about good service!

From getting lost in the jungle whilst documentary filming in Ghana … to narrowly escaping an airport roof-collapse in Zimbabwe … getting Italian CEOs to swap their Guccis for supermarket shopping bags … to delivering fridge-freezers in Derby, he has many of experiences to call on to amuse, inform and inspire.

Power of Communication

Martin’s main focus is communication, and its power to build reputations and careers – or, if not managed properly, to destroy them. He is happy to discuss preparing bespoke presentations to brief, creating a script and visuals for your approval.

SOME SUBJECT IDEAS FOR YOU

To give you a few ideas, here are some of his favourite topics and presentation titles (each around 30-40 minutes):

Look After Your S.E.L.Ftm  Happiness: good for people ... good for business

Low mood and depression costs the UK economy £8.6bn per year (or a whopping $44bn in the US). Martin would be happy for a mere 1% of this in return for his depression-busting ideas, many of which tested and accepted by the medical community. S.E.L.F is Martin's own recipe for making just a few simple lifestyle changes that can improve mood, increase 'smileability' and make positive improvements to productivity and work enjoyment.

An uplifting, motivational – and potentially life-changing (if not life-saving) session.

'And You Are ...?'  How NOT to event network

Everyone attends events to network – but usually they don’t have a clue how to do it. Martin lets you into the secrets of how to ‘work a room’. We cover why networking is so important; how to prepare for your networking outing; a bit on body-language; and the importance of follow-up.

Careful – audience participation could create infectious laughter.

YOU! Things you never knew about the best thing on the planet

A thought-provoking and motivational discussion about why you do the things you do. Why you get angry when you’re hungry; how you make the best decisions, what motivates you, and the problem with goals.

Martin looks at how creative visualisation can help you achieve your goals effortlessly using the powers of Psycho-Cybernetics – and how to build confidence to deal with any eventuality.

A real feel-good half hour.

As delivered at the Meetings Show Associations' Conference 2014.

Fascinating stuff and really useful for managers, car-park attendants and WWII dictators.

'Are You Being Served?' How poor service is losing you £000s

If there’s one thing that drives Martin to homicidal rage it’s having to clear a café table before sitting down with his coffee. He takes a look at the real damage done by poor service and how to avoid it. From thoughts on why poor service is ingrained in our national psyche, to useful tips provided by one of the world's top Embassy butlers who knows a thing or two about providing good service, Martin gets to the bottom of how service sustainability is a must for business and for employees.

Eureka! The art of Creative Thinking

‘How do you get so many good ideas?’ … it’s a question Martin is asked many times. He lets the audience into the secrets of creative thinking, showing that anyone can have a ‘good idea’. It's what you do with it that can be the crucial thing.

Also, he discusses how the subconscious is continuously at work solving your problems and conundrums. All you have to do is relax and let it do its job.

Is That a Marketing Tool in Your Pocket (or are you just pleased to see me?)

You can do a lot more with your mobile phone and laptop than you might think. Martin shares some tips taken from his one-day training course: Video-Making for Social Media(tm)

Learn how to make professional looking videos to save £000s in video company costs. Ideal for small businesses, HR departments, sales and marketing -- or anyone else who doesn't have a bottomless budget to spend on corporate videos for social media consumption.

Write To Sell! Creating action from your words

Martin’s first ever training course was called the Web-Writers’ Workshoptm.  It
was a storming success and put Martin on the map as an expert copywriter. In half an hour he looks at why most websites don't generate leads, how SEO could be crippling your business, and how to write copy that creates action to generate more business.

If you want your people to write persuasive words that create action, you cannot afford NOT to incorporate this presentation into your conference – contact Martin direct to discuss how:  martin@micomms.co.uk

... see? He's done it again.

Negotiating to Win (-win)

It's all a game of cat and mouse ... but if you drive too hard a bargain, there’s usually a price to pay. Martin looks at either (a) how a seller can negotiate the best deal successfully to make sales that lead to greater profits or … (b) how a buyer can create greater leverage and significant bargaining power and achieve savings to boost profits – you choose the point of view. But whichever one you choose, profit boosting is in there somewhere.

... or we can simply discuss your needs and tailor a special presentation just for your event and organisation.
